About Me
As a child, I was obsessed with the extraordinary and unexplainable. I wore a Superman cape regularly, even to public events, until the age of 7-8. I never liked to read but was always drawn to visual depictions of events and imagery. My mom would bring me to Barnes & Noble as a child to get herself books and to encourage me to read, but I would always end up in the comic book section or playing with toys. I was obsessed with Legos, recreating events from my favorite films and literally "blocking" out scenes with the pieces. As I grew up, my parents became more hands-off and let me watch nearly anything I could find. I watched The Godfather Parts I and II, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, and classic westerns like The Dirty Dozen, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, High Noon, and more, all before the age of fifteen. My mother has been obsessed with classic Hollywood films all her life, and as she would rewatch old Hitchcock and John Ford movies, I would be introduced to them. I will always remember watching To Catch A Theif and Rear Window for the first time. I was on the edge of my seat watching Cary Grant play cat and mouse with the main villain as he fell in love with Grace Kelly. Then, I experienced the claustrophobia of Jimmy Stewart confined to his wheelchair. as he witnesses and investigates the murder of his neighbor. These movies are relatively common by today's standards. Still, as a kid learning about the world and how reality unfolds, these films were exciting and compelling to the human condition. I only thought of having a career in filmmaking once I joined theater productions in high school. I knew I wouldn't be in theater all my life, but I understood how narratives are brought to audiences through a live setting, and the preparation theater takes. Then my senior year of high school, I saw Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott, for the first time, which changed everything for me.
Blade Runner wasn't only narratively compelling but visually captivating because it used a unique form of what I would come to understand as realism combined with the themes of science fiction. There was a dynamic understanding and dissection of what it means to be a human because the replicants are somehow more human than Harrison Ford's Deckard as they attempt to prevent their imminent deaths. The depth of meaning behind Blade Runner could never be presented on a stage because theater requires an exaggerated sense of emotion to help audiences convey the correct feelings. The medium of cinema utilizes such a dynamic range of characteristics to make audiences convey emotions that there can be less stress on the emotional intensity brought forth through acting, unlike theater which doesn't have the same vast set of tools to implement. Since discovering my passion, I have worked on various exciting projects, traveled the world, studied abroad, and met exciting people.
Having worked on various projects, I consider myself the luckiest person in the world. I capture beautiful scenes daily, meet people from all walks of life, and learn new skills. I’m always looking for the next challenge, so if you have an idea and would like to collaborate, please get in touch.
